Visit to Dumfries & Galloway Wildlife Park
Saturday 7th July, 2007
The owner, John Denerely and his wife Kathryn, who are deaf themselves, welcomed our group of 17 people with tea & coffee. After refreshments, John gave usa guided tour of the Park – the rain started to pour down so we decided to have an early lunch of homemade soup and sandwiches – soon after the rain stopped and we continued our tour.
We saw all kinds of animals including otters, eagle, wild cats, mercats, red racoon (new baby cub) – it was fascinating to see how the animals lived.
We then went back to the canteen for afternoon tea/coffee and lovely homemade cakes – then some of the brave members of the group had pictures taken with the Boa (snake).
We all decided to give a donation to John to help build a new pen for the animals. We thanked John & Kathryn for their warm welcome and hospitality and left for Dumfries Station Hotel for High Tea.
